The core 9-week program is offered three times a year and consists of curriculum that empowers parents to become their children’s "first teacher" and primary advocate. The program provides door-to-door transportation, two meals, and three hours of interactive parenting classes. Topics include: brain development, early childhood cognitive development (ages & stages), parenting styles, literacy-building skills, building self-esteem in children, helping children – and caregivers! - manage and express emotions, healthy discipline techniques, nutrition and wellness, as well as socialization and problem-solving skills. The ultimate goal of the program is to give parents the tools to ensure their children's academic success. Staff and volunteers work with children on literacy activities and learning through play while parents participate in class.
